I am trying to write a mysql application in C#. Locally(ie in Windows) I can run my application just fine.. I am writing a program to input a piece rate daily bonus sheet to keep track of my throughput at work. I use Console.SetCursorPosition and Console.Clear as well as ConsoleKeyInfo. I wanted to buy a ADDS boundless 4000/260 text terminal to add to a server, but a few major problems are arising. I can successfully either A) build the mono core run time or B) get the binaries off a repository successfully. I want to be able to ssh or use telnet to deploy on the internet; maybe with a php frontend at some point. I copy the Visual Studio (or MonoDevelop) exe to the linux machine and execute it(ie 'mono program.exe') it displays some of the data and then terminates. I added a try catch and wrote the execption to the console and got a Console.IOException error. I am trying to have 132x52 screen format and even when I set cmd.exe or xterm(linux) to these resolutions it still terminates. I can run the program fine on windows. Is there anything you can think of as to why my program is terminating. Also openssh for windows doesn't help me because i try to run the program though a ssh shell on mac os x, but it hangs and on the machine the program is at, I get a Debugger window that pops up. So I can't even rely on a windows based ssh server. As a side note, I ordered a SheevaPlug(1.2Ghz ubuntu Arm device) and will just run mysql on that instead of XAMPP for mac. But I want the application hosting offloaded from my netbook as well.

Sorry I was away for a while.

If you can't connect to MS website then probably your DNS configuration is wrong, or... most likely your laptop got a virus.

If it's DNS problem, try using 203.12.160.35 as primary DNS to see if it work.
If it's virus problem, try some new antivirus. I recommend Kaspersky.

Hariprasad R » Thanks for asking. I just replied to Carmen's question. Could you check if my answer to Carmen is also a solution to your problem? Just in case it's not, here is my analysis on your issue.

You mentioned that you installed Windows XP Professional with SP2. Did you mean you install it from a CD and did not download SP2 from Microsoft website? If that's the case then it shouldn't trouble you when you install IIS because I searched for the httpext.dl_ file on my Windows XP Professional with SP2 CD and I found it.

It would be very strange. But anyway if it's really a problem than you may try to download the file I mentioned on my article, which is at this time still located on http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpsp2.html . After you download the file plz follow my suggestion the same as to Carmen.

BTW, is your website address incorrect? I couldn't open it.

Hi Carmen, Thanks for asking about this issue...

Seem like I forgot that the original Windows CD (without SP2) is needed.

So what you need to try is to insert the Windows XP CD in, and then start the IIS installation process. From my imagination it will take most of the files from the CD and then when it reach the files of the SP2 it will prompt you to browse for the missing file. That's when you will point it to the extra I386 folder you extracted from the SP2 (stand alone) file you download from http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpsp2.html

Please give me some feedback on whether my answer worked and I will revise my article accordingly.

Hi,
I read your article about installing IIS at ezinearticles.com.
I need your help. I have installed Windows XP Professional with SP2.
Now I wanted to install IIS. But unable to do that.
While installing, I ran the xp sp2 cd and selected IIS. After 2-3 minutes, i got a msg "Setup cannot find file httpext.dl_" .. it showed me the folder path d:\I386. I found that the file is missing, when I searched that folder in the cd.

please let me know how to get this file and install IIS.

and I followed this steps, but it still prompts for missing files, and i tried to browse I386 and its sub-folders for them but I couldn't find some of them (many of them actually) in that folder or it's sub-folders! Can you please help me?

I need your help Binh. I was wondering that day when you said my comment was taken as spam by akismet. Today i was commenting on another site and my comment was not getting post cos akismet was telling it was spam. I just removed by Website name from the URL and the comment got posted. How did that happen? Any help as to how to make sure that any comment related to my site is not considered a spam. I don't know where else to post this.

Prem » LOL at WP (not you). I did type double quotes, not the smart quotes. It's the smarty WordPress that cause my code to not work. I didn't mention that in an extra comment because that will be too rude to Uberdose.com 's owner. So sorry about that.

I think I will have to remove that smart quote filter on my blog too. Otherwise more critical problems may occur. Or should I get rid of this WP as a whole?

I had posted a message on uberdose's site regarding how to have the Ad merged with a post, just like having an image in a post. u replied saying

I tried that with left center n right. but text still remains below it.

Its like having the space for 550x280 image but having 336x280 image........the space makes the post look ugly. So any other suggestions please?

Brian Purkiss » Thanks again for your great thoughts. I overlooked at fine tuning my pages and spent too much time on the other things. Type of programming languages I know and can help:
1. VBA, VB.NET, VBScript
2. Java, JavaScript
3. ASP.NET, ASP
5. PHP
6: C# (a little of C++ and C, not able to help others).
7: Not really programming languages but worth mentioning: XML, HTML, XHTML, CSS.

I think because too many so I didn't care mention them. My coding skills are limited on some languages. I actually depends on my skills in reading code and some debugging to be confident enough to offer help to other people.

Further more, I'm also keen in helping people on Windows. But that's another story.

Again, there are much more to say, I will save it for when I have enough time to rewrite the page.
