Google Search with Options

May 30, 2009

Now Google Search has options. This is good news for end users and bad news for internet money gurus.

Why am I saying it's good news for end user?

Because end users now can sort the search results based on their preferences. They can sort by any of the following, one or combined:

› All results

  • Videos
  • Forums
  • Reviews

› Any time

  • Recent results
  • Past 24 hours
  • Past week
  • Past year

› Standard results

  • Images from the page
  • More text

› Standard view

  • Related searches
  • Wonder wheel
  • Timeline

Why is it bad for online money makers?

It's harder for you to rank now, because people might search based on time line, and you can't control that. Hopefully people will just do the normal search and your website will rank #1 for the keyword, but what if they search only the last 24 hours and your page is published like ... a year ago?

It can certainly be controllable somehow, but that is the job of big SEO gurus to find out and teach us. I'm a simple SEO Web designer (on site SEO) so this goes beyond my ability.

What is your view?
